To fuel the (R)Evolution! we invite you to anonymously confess the dirtiest architecture industry secrets that you either know first hand or have heard about. Through generating a critical mass of experiences and perspectives we hope to collectively tackle the toughest greenwashing stains.
Have you specified an eco material that is brought in on a transatlantic flight? Do you work for a self proclaimed 'sustainable enterprise' with 'environmental concerns'? Do you use vague terminology like 'Greening' to validate your projects? Send us your confessions and we will share them anonymously as we air our dirty laundry at Many Studios pop up laundrette exhibition.
On Tuesday 13th June, New Practice will take over Many Studios with a pop up laundrette, for a satirical interactive exhibition. Drop in from 4pm on the day for a series of laundrette themed games that will help you to spot greenwashing before it seeps into your practice.
From 6pm-9pm we will be joined by Jo Sharples and Jack Richards of Editional Studio (Manchester) for a talk on their research, practice and perspective on Greenwashing. Followed by a Q&A and discussion hosted by Bobby Jewell of Architects Climate Action Network.
This event aims to shed light on how pervasive greenwashing is in the architecture industry and use satirical games and anonymity to generate discussion and reflection on how we can recognise it, avoid it and tackle it collectively. Expect an evening of drinks, games, confessions & maybe that sock that went missing 3 months ago.

Established in 2018, Editional Studio is a Manchester-based architecture practice that celebrates sustainable, considered design. From their public-facing, high street shop, they host exhibitions, talks and events, promoting architecture and the design of spaces as an open conversation in which everyone should be involved.
They strongly advocate for a ‘less is more’ attitude. The construction industry is responsible for almost 50% of the UK’s carbon emissions and they are determined to change this. They are currently designing numerous residential retrofits and have gained planning permission for a new-build, Passive House in an Ancient Woodland and Site of Scientific Interest. Their projects start from what is there, utilisings existing materials and structure. They work holistically, considering where materials come from and how they perform to ensure that what we make is not just sustainable, but part of regenerative systems.
Editional Studio is profiled in the Architect’s Journal’s ‘40 under 40: a who’s who of the nation’s next generation of boundary-pushing designers and innovators’. We also feature in the Architecture Foundation’s book ‘New Architects 4’, which showcases the best British practices established over the last 10 years.
